Barbell Plate Calculator

Find the plates to load on each side of your bar.

Target weight includes the bar and both sides.

Each unit keeps its own target, bar and plate selection. Switching restores that setup, rather than converting your weights.

Exact match. Total 100 kg; target 100 kg; bar 20 kg; 0 kg below target. Each side: 25 kg × 1, 15 kg × 1.

How to Load the Bar

Load the listed plates on each side, with the largest plates nearest the center. Both sides use exactly the same weights. The calculator finds the closest total without going over your target, then uses the fewest plates for that total.

Total weight = bar + (2 × plates on one side)

Select the sizes you have. Assumes enough matching pairs of each selected size.

Before You Lift

Collar weight is not included. For weighted collars, add their combined weight to your custom bar weight.

This is a weight calculation, not a check of sleeve space or a safe lifting load. Check your equipment’s limits, load both sides equally and secure your plates before lifting.
